I have a 1984 cutlass supreme with an olds 350 from a 1979 88. My car died on me last week and I had to get it towed because it would not start up again. I found that the reason was that I have no spark. I testedthe power wires and I have 12 volts and clean, tight ground connections. The cap is new, coil is new, wires are new, rotor looks fine. Thestarter, battery, and alternatorare only three weeks old.Thestarter turns the engine overjust fine but I get no spark. Please help, ive tried all I can think of exept for ignition switch...

If you have 12 volts going into the Dist, and you just replaced
the coil, the problem is probebly on the module, or the small wires conecting to the module. The module is under the cap, you can easily remove it and check the wires going to it. They do have a tendency of working fine 1 moment, and not working at all the next. I would start there, and if you get a after market module, by 2 and keep 1 in the car as a spare. They don't seem to last as long as the original equipment modules. Good Luck with it. |
