Replacing my Compressor or fixing it without removal

Ok the clutch isnt't cycling. I already checked my pressure (I'm HVAC certified) and work in the field for residential so I used my gagues to check, and its registering 50PSI which I'm told is correct. Then I looked at the AC compressor and noticed the clutch is not cycling. I don't have 1400 dollars to spend to get this replaced, and I'm not a mechanic, I work on residential units, and these car units are a little diffrent. Is there a way to force the thing to work again without me paying a shop? Its a 1997 Olds 88 with a 3800 under the hood. I bought it 3 months ago from a dealership and the AC stopped working 2 weeks ago. I live in Texas so its not like rolling down my windows keeps me that cool. Any tips to unsticking it?

From what I understand the computer partially controls the activation of the clutch. You could just have a bad pressure switch keeping it from engaging, but it could also be more involved.
