So, I have a 1997 Bravada. I have enjoyed it. Living out in the country,
the AWD has paid for itself over the many MN winters I have driven it through. It has not really had any major problems. When I went to make my 4th payment on it, my tranny blew out but other than that, all good. Till now. About June, I started to hear a clunking noise that sounded like it was coming from the rear end of the truck whenever I took of to fast. I thought it was my transfer case. I took it into my mechanic, and we started by replacing the drive shaft which we thought might of been the cause because there was a lot of play in it. Replaced that, and the noise was still there. We tried a different tranny, and the noise was still there. I rebuilt the transfer case, and the noise is still there. We believe it is something in the front end. But no idea what. Seeing as how it is AWD, it is set up differently than its sister vehicles, so this is where I get lost. It is quite a significant clunking noise. When we take the front drive shaft off, the noise is not around. I really need some help here. I have had this thing in the shop for a few months now trying to figure this out.I am hoping that someone out there knows what is going on or can point me in the right direction. Hope to hear from someone. Thanks for your time Jason |
