Symptoms of fuel pump failure??

Trying to get a 1992 3.1 Cutlass running and I think I may have a fuel pump problem. Normally I would just replace it but I already did that months ago with no good result. I've only had it happen once before when I got a defective part from the store years ago and it drove me crazy for months trying to figure out what was wrong. I've also replaced everything including the electronic control module and there is nothing showing on the codes. Can anyone give me some feedback on what these type of pumps do when they misbehave? Engine starts, runs till warm, shuts off then only runs thirty seconds at a time and won't take any gas. I am used to the old style pumps that dripped when they were ready to fail and then just quit working. Do the symptoms I've described sound like fuel pump failure? Thanks, Phil.
