motor swap advice

i dont know im looking to drop in a 455 motor....cause i want to stay with olds but never ran an olds motor was thinking bout a chevy cause i know what chevy could do

That 455 swap is CAKE. You're going to need to address that transmission though. Stick with the 200 4R and have it built to handle the 455. You won't regret it. Is your Hurst an 83 or 84? If it's an 83 you should look into finding a rear end from either an 84 H/O or a G/N or T-Type turbo.
Do up the 455 and use motor mounts for the 307, water pump for the 307 and all of the brackets. You'll need longer belts for the alt and A/C (if you keep it).

P.S.

DO NOT under ANY circumstances put a chevy engine in that H/O or the Olds gods will hunt you down and take away any rights to ever own or drive an Olds again. :D

Not that hard at all. The 455 is a stout motor when done up right. Not sure if you can read this or not if yopu're not a member but if you can then check this out.

A 455 will definatly run with the big dogs.

My opinion, keep the H/O stock and buy a simple Calais or Cutlass to toy with.

Svnt442,

when you say cake what problems did you run into. I have a few questions
what your 455 would you prefer. I found a 70 for sale.
1.Will by 2004r built up with out and adapters-I know I will have to rebuild
2.Will the 307 A/c bolt on to 455 brackets
3.Any valve cover clearance issues
4. I heard also run a better radiator which is not a problem

I know I should keep my baby original but Im in for the long haul. If you ask me If its not
a 15Kmiles trailer queen and its a summer cruiser then what the f---. We own these cars to enjoy them. Look at all the nice 70's muscle cars that show up at these cruises.most have altered parts or engines and they still hold value. The value of my Hurst is around $14-15k
all orig, and I dont see it going much higher anytime soon.

Thanks man any help will be great
