My fuel guage will read full when I have a full tank, but will never go below half even when the tank is near empty. The needle will move towards full when I accelerate, but will level back down to half when I reach speed.

I''m I looking at a new sending unit or another electrical issue

looking at other post and forums, GM sent out a TSB instructing dealers and service centers not to replace the sending unit, but rather try and expensive fuel tank additive. At $25/ a shot it is supposed to clean the carbon build up from intake ports and remove sulfur deposits from sending units and the plus part is supposed place a film over the sensetive parts of the sending unit.

It has also, been suggested to pull the various fuses that control the dash pod as well.

At this point I have tried all that. I''ll know in a week if any of this works

For those that have the same problem...... the $25.00 GM fuel additive did not work for me. I did call a local GM mechanic. There is a rebuild kit availible for the sending unit. My cost for this is about $250.00 for the job.

On another note the A/C that cuts in and out. I have a full charge in the A/C system. I did pull the fuse for the Service head. This did for the moment solve my A/C issues.

So if your fuel gauge will not read correctly, my expierence tells me you will need at least to get the sending unit rebuilt
