I have a 1998 intrigue GLS (3.8 litre) and i have been getting very poor gas mileage.

KBB says the average mileage i should be getting in town is about 17 mpg, i calculated my gas mileage using my trip meeter, which says i traveled 215 miles on the 18 gallons of fuel the car holds (that is correct yes?) and that comes to about 11 mpg, which i feel is ridiculous for a midsized sedan. I drive very moderately around town. I do use the air conditioning but not heavily. I have tried fuel injector cleaner and i replaced the air filter, i saw an increase of only about 1 mpg.

Advice? I love this car, but if the problem persists I will just sell it and buy something new.

YOUR FUEL MILEAGE SHOULD BE MUCH BETTER , I HAD A 99 INTRIGUE WITH THE 4.3 AND RECIEVED MUCH BETTER MILEAGE THAN THAT . MY 95 AURORA GETS UP TO 25 MPG AND 21, 22 CONSTANTLY. YOU MIGHT NEED TO CONSULT A REPUTABLE SHOP FOR A SCAN. HAS THE ENGINE BEEN TUNED UP RECENTLY?
