good day, just bought my 1962 oldsmobile starfire. its been through its paces
and i have a quick question or two.. whats the easiest and quickest and most efficient way to fix or replace the rear main seal.. and where might i find a good pic of the original dipstick.. i am not sure if mine has it.



about me? well im 21 from montana, my name is Daniel(Dan). I Just bought this car and a parts car with it. got a heck of a deal. regardless.. Welcome to the site Dan. I would tell you to ask your question in the right section but we don't really have one for a Starfire, maybe the restoration section but owell.

Last time I changed a rear main seal it was on a F 700 water truck. Drop the drive line and use a seal puller to pull the old seal out, then get a piece of pipe or something that is hollow that is the same size as the seal and push the seal in. Give it a few small taps with a hammer and you should be good to go.
