Default Hi from cross the pond!

Hi all - kevfromwales here!

I've joined up on your forum as me an a good friend are about to take on the rather ambitious joint project of a 72 or 73 olds 98 (it's registered here as 1973, but hopefully it's a '#72, as then it's exempt from road tax charges!)

it was bought by another friend of ours, who loves old yank metal, but he's decided that it's a bit too much for him, so he's going to part out the 455 and th400 for another one of his cars, and was going to crush the remains of the 98 - which we couldn't let happen!

For now I have a chevy 350-350 combo to go in (sadly, american stuff is pretty scarce over here, so we have to use what we can get) - but the aim is to get it back on the road where it belongs!

it's fairly badly rotted out along the rear 'deck' between the rear window and the trunk lid, and needs a good going over mechanically - but we're itching to get it home and get started on it

A few questions which we are struggling to get answers for are

* we want to get the car LOW - are dropped spindles available off the shelf for these cars? has anybody on here lowered one?

* where are the best places to get service parts from? (I've used US suppliers for bits for my '69 ford f250, but haven't bought any olds bits before!)

* do the early 70's 98's share any parts with other GM cars? we have heard the windshields are the same as impala ones?

look forward to getting over to where it's stored and getting some photos of it

cheers! - kev

Welcome, and lot's of luck. Many Olds folk will chastise you for putting a Chev engine in an Olds. Not a popular thing to do. In fact, GM did just that with Oldsmobile back in the 70's, got sued, and had to pay up!

Best parts supplier - http://www.fusick.com
Interchange - Yes some years of full-sized Olds (B Body) do have parts which interchange with the Chev Impala.
