Identify myself

My name is Bob Malley, 83 years of age and I own a 1967 Olds 98 convertible with 75K original miles. I have owned it for 30 years, and has had one repaint[saffron yellow] a new top and exhaust system. I am second owner, and yes, brakes and tires have been replaced. I have a question, my transmission fluid is down, and I added a quart of Dextron to the filler pipe on the top and front of the engine. I saw no change on the dip stick. Did I pour it down the right tube?? The dip stick shows only the very tip with fluid. I did not see much fluid on the garage floor when I took it out for the first time. When I took it out on the road, it would not shift into "drive", but stayed in "low" I'm not senile yet [at least I don't think so] but I need a little encouragement. Any suggestions folks??

Bob,

I think you may have erred here and put that tranny fluid in the crankcase. Have you checked your oil level lately? Is it overfilled?

The tranny fluid usually is added at the tube where the transmission dipstick has been removed. That is at the back of the engine on the passenger side.

You may be in need of an immediate oil & filter change!

A look on the bright side...The tranny fluid will clean the lifters really well. Leave it too long and it will begin ticking like a time bomb.
X2 with Dave, I would do an immediate oil and filter change.
Can you post any pics of your 67 Ransum ? Would love to see it.
