New owner of a 77 ninety eight swamp find!!
 

Hello, just dragged in a 77 moldsmobile coupe. Watched this heap rust in a abandoned garage for the last twenty years. She has the 400/turbo400 tranny. 34,000 mile and inspection is good until 8/81 :D. Tire date stamp is 2/79 so shes ready for cross country! spent last few weeks freeing the frozen brakes. Blow torch and 20lb sledge works good. sea foamed the cylinders rebuilt the quadra junk carb and now is running off a bottle. So fun to mash it and watch orange condinsation shoot out the muffler. How ever the tranny will not shift out of first and the linkage is so frozen up I have to leave it in nutural since I cant get it up into park. Until now I only restored datsun Z's and thought this will be a hysterical christmas gift for my wife since 95% of this car is surface rust. Not one hole and frame is still showroom. freaky since this car sat in standing water during every rain. So im going "ratrod" on this 50.00 car and a case of Miller. sanding it down with 1000 grit and clear coating the rust n all. I have a pathitic 1000 lb cherry picker not sure if i can pull motor n all ? Thinking the linkage needs cleaned up. New vac lines and vacume modulator should get the tranny going? I rather pull the motor clean and paint the engine compartment and motor. Throw some headers on and run 2 1/2 Duals done deal for under 1500.00. And thoughts would be nice this aint a simple tiny datsun :D
