Default Newbie with an 84 Olds.

My 1999 Yukon took a pretty nasty plunge recently, and I'm not able to fix it. Called some of my family members, and found one who had an old jalopy for me. I went over and saw it, and pretty much fell in love. It's an old beast, but I think she'll be ok for me. I traded my Yukon and $200 for it. It's got quite a lot wrong with it, but just minor things. Right front turn signal needs rewired, headliner, vinyl top completely cracked, electric seats don't move, is very rusty looking, lost 1 of the 4 from the complete set of hubcaps I had on the way home with it, radio doesn't work, speedo doesn't work, dash lights barely work, needs new belts, ac/heater doesn't blow properly. On the plus side, the windows all work (albeit kinda slowly on most of em), the seats are all horribly faded but not torn or messed up at all, the rust on the outside is all surface, starts up every time on the first or second try (it is carbureted after all), all the lights work (except the previously mentioned turn signal which just doesn't flash but does light up), it has no serious leaks that I can tell.

So, it's not a great car, but it works. The problems with my truck were all electrical. These older cars don't have a whole lot that is electrical. My dad had an 81 malibu wagon that ran like crap when he first got it. He disconnected the computer, it ran great. His was a cheap car like mine that wasn't worth looking into why. If you tried that on much anything newer than these, they wouldn't even start. I like that Something that will continue to run and drive, even when it's got issues.
