77 turbo 400 will not shift from first nor go into park.
 

Hello, its been years since I played with a gm automatic. I just bought this car as a rat rod project. Its sat since 1981 nursed it back from a bottle. I changed all fluids. The car took my two arms full strength to get out of park. I soaked the linkage with wd 40 anyway it will roll tire in reverse and drive how ever on test runs will get up to 25-30 with the engine screaming will not shift at all. The shift lever will not go to first or back into park. linkage looks fine just rusty. I also do not have reverse lights except when in nutural. Just weird no converter noises so I expect this to be a vacume modulator issue for the shifting cheap except it looks like If i un screw it from the trans it may snap off. Not sure if spraying lube down the vac line would help any. Not in the mood to spend 600.00 to rebuild the tranny for a 50.00 car. I do have a nice 700r4 though not sure if the bellhousing patterns are the same on the 400 sb compaired to the 305 the r4 is currently mated to? Was going to use the 305/700r4 for a 280 zx swap. Any help? :D
