I have a 2002 Silhouette. While driving there is a noise that sounds like a card stuck in the spokes of a bicycle. I can't explain it better. It doesn't make the noise if the van isn't moving. And it seems to not be there if I make a right turn. It does not sound like metal grinding. CouldI have a cv joint going out? Could it be unbalanced tires? I am totally baffled. |
Maybe a brake pad?

FROM WHAT DIRECTION DOES THE NOISE SEEM TO GENERATE FROM AND WHY WOULD YOU THINK WHEEL BALANCE?
|
You might try to jack frontend up in air (front wheel drive)and place in gear to help pinpoint sound, just a thought. You might also look for a bubble in tire or a tire tred that dosent look right from a broken belt inside the radial tires.Edited by: Ryano |
ryano has a very good point. if your tires are dipped out ( high and low spots mostly on the outer edges it will create a sound similar to what you are discribing. .
