1982 Cutlass

Hey hows it going guys? I have a 1982 Cutlass with stock suspension. Im wondering whats the best way to lower the car for an inch and half to two inch. Are the coil springs the best way to go? Looking for ideas and answers. Thanks.

Eibach springs can do the trick for sure. :D

A cheap and easy way to drop a car a small amount is to cut out a bit of the spring with a cutting torch. I've done it, and seen it done a lot of times with no problems.

Strut-type suspensions can pose a problem sometimes because when the spring coil is not a consistent diameter. (spring coil diameter is the overall dimension of the spring, not to be confused with the diameter of the spring material, itself. For example, coil diameter might be 4" while material diameter might be 5/8".)

Another option is to find a parts store that has access to OEM replacement springs, (and a catalog). See my answer to redhawkgt's post about sagging suspension for more info on OEM-type springs.

Let me know if you have any questions.
