My 71 442 is the same way, I'm used to Corvettes I don't like this overboost / no road feel at all. I heard a long time ago that a '70's Trans Am firebird steering box fits and is a huge improvement. Looking for anyone who has any information on this swap right now !

There is an adjustment on the end of the steering box to take up slack where the shaft comes out , it has a jam nut with a curved flange about 2 inches across and a threaded part with two 3/16 inch holes in it for a pin drive spanner wrench. . It can be tightened to take up slack by putting a drill bit in one hole and using a big screwdriver to turn. I'm going to put a '74 Trans Am firebird steering box in, it's 3 turns lock to lock instead of 4 1/4 .
