Angry 2001 alero turns over wont start

Hi, i am having a problem with my daughters car. The car will turn over but will not start. It has 1/2 tank gas,the fuel pump is working,i changed the fuel filter and the fuel rail pressure regulator, still will not start.I also checked the fuel pressure on the fuel rail it is good. If i squirt gas in the air intake it will fire. It also does have spark. I have scan tool and there are no codes. Help

Is the security light on the dash on? It sounds like a Passlock issue. Its very commen with the Alero and Grand Am.
After attempting to start the engine, if the SECURITY light flashes or stays on, wait ten minutes with the key in ON until the light goes off. Then turn the ignition to OFF before attempting to start the engine again. If the car starts after the 10 minutes you have an issue with the Passlock system, its more than likely the ignition cylinder. There is a bypass, https://oldsmobileforum.com/forum/alero-21/fix-passlock-problems-1194/, just ask Iflylow to email it to you.

Default 2001 alero turns over wont start

Thanks rustyballs_69 it was a Passlock issue. The method of resetting the passlock however was a little different than you described. When the car failed to start i noticed with the key on acc. the security light flashes when the passlock is activated and is on steady when not activated, this is a simple way to determine right off the bat if it is a Passlock issue or something els. How i got it to start ; First i attempted to start the car (it fails to start) i just left the ignition key on the "on" position for 25 min. then turned the key right to start and it started instantly. I checked on the price of a new key ignition switch, $177.00 . Thanks again for your help .

You might want to check out ebay for a new ignition cylinder. Way cheaper than a dealership. Atleast you know what the problem is now.

The bypass is even cheaper. I think I paid around 50 cents for resistors at Radio Shack!
