Default 2004 fuel injector issue?

Hey guys. first post here. I have a 2004 Alero 3.4 Auto and the fuel pump just went bad on it. Just installed the new pump and a new inline filter as well. But when I tried to start the car it refused. I'm not a mechanic so I did watch a stupid instructional video online and followed it perfectly. I did various checks to make sure fuel is getting to the engine. (dropped the filter to make sure it filled/took the cap off the end of the rear fuel rail and watched it spray/etc) Have not hooked up a pressure gauge but a well educated friend said that the pressure he saw was more than adequate. We tried a few things to try and narrow issues down. I was able to run the motor on ether spraying in from the airbox well. I'm thinking at this point that the computer is not telling the injectors to spray. I disconnected the battery allowing enough time to reboot or whatever the computer. Could it potentially be the little diaphram thingy with the vacuum hose on top on the fuel rail? Picked one up at the yard just for fun.

Any ideas guys? Sorry for not being concise lol.

Thanks, Matt
