Default 99 Alero Growling front end

Hey All,
Need help trying to figure out a growling sound coming from the front end. I first figured it was a cv joint or wheel bering, But when you jack the car up there is no play and everything feels fine when you spin the wheel, on both sides. The noise is much louder inside than outside, it only occures when in gear and the wheels are going around, turning seems to have no effect...without tearing everything apart, im stumped...
Any ideas anyone has would be greatly appreciated.

That sure sounds like a wheel bearing to me, even though there isn't any play.
You could also have a sticking brake caliper.

I would say a its caliper or fouled pads if it goes away when you break lightly and the wheels are still turning. If it kinda sounds like grinding marbles then its the bearings. Whether there is play or not is the hub assembly the bearings are inside.
Good Luck
