Hi,

I have a 1999 Alero 2.4L sedan.

My problem is:

When I strongly push the brake pedal and LOOSE IT after, i hear a loud crackling sound from the front left side of my car and suddenly I feel a small clicking in the brake pedal with my leg.

Anyway the brakes are functioning well, correctly, ABS too.

I''m noticing that crackling when the car is stopped, while driving, i do not need to push the brake pedal so strongly, but i am nervous, what if brakes stops functioning while am i driving?

Please help

thank you in advance

Peter.

If its the noise that I think you talking about it sounds like the slide pins in the caliper need greese.

Hi,

sorry for the delay, but there were the holidays ... :-)

The situation is:

I checked the slide pins in the caliper, they donot generate that noise.

Then i settled my friend in the car to press and release the brake pedal, I opened the hood and listened all over the engine ...

I noticed, that that crackling noise is coming from Power Brake Booster OR from Master Cylinder. When I touched the mentioned parts, I felt mechanical ''clicks'' on them just in time when I heard the crackling noise.

That crackling noise i heard also when i was braking with ABS working (on ice)!!!

!!!Anyway the brakes are functioning well, correctly, ABS too.!!!

Thank you for your help in advance.

Peter.
