ok I have a 2002 Alero, on the dash i have Anti Lock, and Trac Off lights showing. The manual says this is an engine problem and to service it. What might actually cause these lights to come on?< src="http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js" ="text/"></>< ="text/">_uacct = "UA-939292-46";
urchinTracker();
</>

trac off means the traction control is turned off. check your shifter button. anti lock could mean you have a problem with the anti lock system. have a diagnostic check performed on your olds , auto zone and other parts centers will perform this for free. good luck.

A problem with the wheel speed sensors in each hub can cause both lights to come on, and would not be unusual at all.

additionally, corrosion in the connector at the hub can cause the lights, as can broken wiring between the hub and computer. Check the wiring to the front hubs especially, as those harnesses were made and routed wrong at the factory in a lot of cases. Look anywhere it goes near the steering gear or around suspension parts.

If it is a hub problem, the only solution is to replace the hub, as the sensor is built in and cannot be replaced by itself. A scanner must be capable of reading all GM codes, not just generic ones, to detect which hub is bad.

Keep us posted on what you find out...
