Unhappy Please help! (2003 Alero GL)

Hi

I wrote in a couple weeks ago about my car quitting on me, thanks to help from this forum it was discovered to be the fuel pump.. Now after running great for over a week, my car quit on me while driving. It just shut off. I pulled it over and shut everything down, then restarted it no problem and drove home. The next morning I started it before work to warm up only to have it shut off again after about 3 minutes. I had my dad come and check it out while I was at work and it started no problem for him, he let it run for a good 5 minutes and tried the different gears and he didnt have a problem with it. Then I tried it when I got home and it wont even start. My battery is fully charged and it turns over but it won't start. When I turn the key to on, I hear my fuel pump kick in so I am not sure what it could be this time. Can anyone suggest something???

Get the fuel pressure checked out. Just because its a new pump doesn't mean it can't be bad. Have you had the fuel filter changed? When they put the pump in they could have stirred some stuff up in the tank that has now made its way to the filter clogging it up.

It could be a passlock issue also. Thats something else to think about.

We did change the fuel filter when the fuel pump was changed. What do you mean by a passlock issue?

Passlock is the "security system" GM put in the Alero and many other cars. It works by detecting if the correct key is in the ignition. However, it is a very unreliable, trouble-prone system.
Sometimes, a passlock fault can cause the car to shut off while running. When this happens, the car will usually start up again after the key is turned off and back on.
Is the security light on the dash on or flashing after the car shuts off?
