Alero Talk about the Oldsmobile Alero within...

Radio ?

well a buddy of mine has an 02 alero that he just bought and his radio just quit working.. wont turn on or anything.. i checked the fuse box fuse wasnt blown.. i looked in the engine bay for a ground wire (it was dark out) and didnt see any ground wires at all.. any ideas on what it could be.. the only other thing i was going to checkwere the wires.. maybe a power wire came loose? but i didnt wana start ripping his dash apart b/c he had to get going.. any help is wanted..

are the lights on the radio on? does it change channels? does the volume guage show a change when you up the volume? and last but least , is the power button on. please dont be insulted because this happens. also check speaker wires for connection.

nothing.. no power wat so ever.. and yes i hit the power button.. i think its the power wire in the back of the cd player or the fuse on the cd player.. but i didnt wana take his dash apart if i didnt have to..

If you do have to pull the radio and all it was is a wire harness loose, your friend may have to go to a dealer and get the security code for the radio.

Couldn't it also be the passlock feature on the radio? I don't know exactly what it does to the radio, but it could be a possibility. Look in the owners manual about it. If anything, take it out of the dash and look at the back. If you need help on that, just pull that trim piece off and there are 4 screws holding it in... Pretty simple.
