Hope someone has run into this. It's a 1999 Alero and I've done the 4 way /flasher switch replacement, but with the turn signals turned off the switch is clicking has soon as the ignition is turned on. The clicking is rapid, sometimes it will slow down, but it will start up again. When the turn signalsare used orthe 4 ways are turned on, they flash correctly.

I have the exact same problem and it is annoying

 

OK, I found out the problem. The young lady that owns the car backed into a trash can and cracked her tail light, about 6 months ago. Water got into the len causing the socket to corode this in turn caused hight resestance in the turn signal switch. So, to check to see if it is your turn signal switch; pull the turn signal fuse, if the clicking stops, it's the switch. BTW Very easy to change.
