Default Replacing the Shifter **** and E-Brake Handle

I recently bought a 2000 Alero 2.4L L4 and it has a strange shifter ****. It's god awful and chewed by a dog as is the E-Brake Handle. I want to replace them with after market pieces, but cant seem to find any way to remove them. The shifter **** has a notch at the front of it but doesn't seem to do anything. I can't even find any screws or bolts holding it in place.
Any Ideas?
Also the E-brake handle and button have been chewed and wondering if that is replacable as well.
Anyone know how to take them off?

The notch in the front of the shifter **** has a u-shaped pin in it, almost like a staple. Pull that out, and the **** will slide off the shaft.

I'd guess the ebrake handle is the same, but I've never tried to pull mine off.

I tried to pull out a U-Pin but there was nothing in that notch. I tore apart the **** and found the top of the shaft with no pin.
any other ideas?

Mine is held on only with that pin. Once the pin was removed, I had to wiggle it some, but it did come off. Yours is probably just stuck, I'd pull and twist, it should come off.
On the other hand, I have the 3.4 with the automatic, so they may be different, I don't know.

Its just like Iflylow said. If the staple (U shape thing) isn't in the shifter it should pull right up. It may take some twisting and pulling but thats all that holds it on unless the owner before you glued it on.

I'm not sure about the handle on the e brake either. I have had my e brake out of the car but never looked to see how the handle was held on.
