anyone know how to get rid of the speed limiter, or remap the ecu?

i'm wondering the same thing. i'd like to put a cold air intake and turbo on my alero GLS but if i can't get over 110 there's no point.

I having the same problem but my car only tops out at 105 and thats only in 3rd gear and i still have the 4th gear it is making me mad.


I can't even find the stupid ECU in the first place. Where is it?

mine shuts down at 105 mph but I have heard others say they have hit 110.

Iwonder if the stock tires have something to do with it because i sure thought that i hit around 115 before. Mine came with the v rated goodyears that break the bank when you have to replace them. Had a grand am GT before and it never hit the speed limiter and that i had it to 135. Kind of stupid now that i think about it but hey, it was a lease car.

I don't know. I had the goodyear eagles on there. I know the alero's came with a 15in and 16in wheel. I have the 16's. I don't know if that has anything to do with it though, i guess it could.
