Angry Transmission Problems

Hey all i'm new to the site...I have a 99 Olds Alero with a 3.4L i've replaced the both front wheel bearings. I just re-did the drives front cause i heard a growl coming from the front the sound doesn't change from left to right. The car has a 180+ on it and i have no clue if the trans has ever been serviced. I did knotice that it doesn't seem to be shifting into over drive. I think the trans is on its way out and i don't want to put any more money into it. Thanks for any advise....Chris

Could be as simple as a shift linkage adjustment, or as bad as a solenoid in the trans going out.
Have you checked the fluid level?

Use a few 2 by 4s to make a ramp so you can drive it up on a curb.
