</>Ok, lets try this a lil differently since i've received no responce in the other thread. I have had to replace the regulators on my gf's 2dr alero (twice on drivers side and once on passenger side) and as of right now the regulators on both sides are broke. they are the ones from ebay, brand new and didnt even last 1 year. whats the deal with these things? Is there a replacement of better quality out there so I dont have to keep takin these doors apart?

I get all mine from my local mechanic. Granted, they are $138 each, but they are brand new, and the plastic parts are a slightly different design. My oldest one (that I have replaced) is still less than a year old, but shows no signs of wear.
I know there was a new design out in about 2003, maybe the ebay ones are still the old design? What part on your GF's regulators is breaking? On each of mine, the plastic clips that attach to the fitting on the window broke.
Also, you question in the other thread (what's the deal with these things?) is pretty vague. Maybe no one knew what you wanted-just my 2 cents.

< src="http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js" =text/> </>well, the 1st one on drivers side brokeat the clip on the glass itself and the plastic pcs on the track. then the passenger broke on just the track the 1st time. 2nd time on driver side was just the track and now the passenger side broke on clip and track and driver is broke on track only. So that makes the driver side has broke 3 times and the passenger side twice. hope this makes since. < =text/> _uacct = "UA-939292-46"; urchinTracker(); and btw, this is an 03 alero</>

Sounds like the usual failure areas. Mine were about to break on the tracks, but the window clips went first.

Hi- I am new here and looking for help with a broken window regulator. Our passenger side window regulator busted and right now the window is being held in place with duck tape. We took it to the shop to get fixed and were told that GM doesn't make that part anymore, and that in order to fix it we were going to have to replace the entire assembly and motor at a cost of $800. It seemed crazy to spend this to replace a piece of broken plastic so we are looking to do it ourselves. We plan to check out the used parts stores and things for a replacement regulator, but does anyone have any tricks or tips that we should know about before starting this fix? Thanks!

Well, you do have to replace the whole assembly (regulator w/ motor) but $800 is outrageous for such an easy fix. Ebay has them for alot less but i cant vouch for the quility because the pair I bought (driver and passenger for a lil over $100) only lasted bout a year but maybe you'll have better luck. Hope this helps ya out some.

If your talking about the window sash, the part that is glued to the window, you can just replace them. If its the plastic clips that run on the tracks you can replace them also.
