90 Ciera factory sound system info
Can someone tell me (a new owner and new forum member)...
1) What are the locations and sizes of the factory speakers in this car?
2) What is the procedure for accessing these speakers (where is the trim hardware, special tools needed to remove trim, etc)?
3) What were the optional headunits available from the factory in later models of the Ciera which can be retrofitted to this car (ideally with CD player/EQ)?
4) What is the procedure for removing the stock headunit from the dash (see #2 above)?
Thanks in advance.

I own a 91 Cutlass Ciera, hopefully they are similar enough....
I will be attempting to install a pioneer CD player and redo all the speakers through the system... This is what I know now.
On the front speakers they look like 3" speakers that tuck in the front dash. The speaker grills are able to just pop off with pressure and tugging.
The rears are standard 6 x 9's and are held in by a dinky piece of metal. When I am installing my 6 x 9's I will have to cut out the holes in the rear deck to fit the speakers in.
This weekend I will be attempting to complete the whole car with pictures showing step by step of the transformation

I have a 96 cutlas. I don't know how much different the 90 is but in the 96 you have two front 3.5" speakers. They +/-? wires are connected to a plug that just plugs onto the speaker. When swapping in aftermarket just make note of which is which and cut the old wires off the connector and install accordingly. I replaced the ones in mine since they were both blown out by the previous owner. There are two 6x9s in the back, they are held in place by a heavy gauge wire that you snap into place. They are plugged in with the same connector. Aftermarket 6x9's should fit in fairly straight forward and the wiring is easy. Not sure what you'd need a wiring diagram for, at least for the speakers.
