hi everybody! Im the proud new owner of a '96 Aurora and Im having a ever so slight idle when the car is at standstill. It accelerates fine, and everything but just when im at a light or in the driveway it's just not smooth enough...the car is a 4.0 with about 140K on it...it's a hoss though, just trying to start with the most obvious problem. I have an 01 Aurora with 65k , and it hasa real slight rough idle, where its just noticeable while sitting. I had the water pump go on me a month ago. I changed one of the water pump belt pulleys while replacing the pump. the idle subsided slightly. Wish I changed the other. Take a look at your pulleys on the belt drive and on the water pump unit. It's a good start..

I have had a rough idle on my 01 that has subsided in the past few months. In Februray of 08' it started up real bad a few days after I got an oil change from Valvoline (bad choice). I had to take my baby to Meineke for a $90 diagnostic and a to clean my idle speed control. Which helped it for a week or so. They did give me the report of what historic codes came back when they tested it, I had a evap issue that leads me to think is the problem with mine. Then my brother bought the diagnostic system and he put it on there while it was idling and no codes came back. Weird I would say, but check the evap system for leaks.
