Question steering

2003 Oldsmobile Aurora. I have a clunk clunk noise when I turn the steering wheel. I have replace the struts. Would anyone know if the problem could
be in the rack and pinion or maybe in the steering shaft that has u-joints going into the rack and pinion?? Looks almost impossible to change.
This car has 95,000 miles and is supreme condition. Several times the engine quit with no warning, sometimes at cruise and just setting at a light. Re-start
no problem. Once going 70 mph and engine quit, I put the car in neutral, restart no problem. Car has new plugs and a gas additive added. Does anyone have answer to this problem. Thanks.
