The Salon model was more or less a fancier or sportier model than the regular Cutlass. They are more sought after in my opinion. My first car was a red 1977 salon and I would sure love to have it back. the Salon''s typically had a floor shift center console, high back bucket seats, and ralleye wheels. As for the size of motor I can''t help you other than most had the 350 ci motor. You may try looking under the seats to see if the original build sheet is tucked in there. I found my build sheet under the driver''s seat between the bottom cushion and the metal seat wires. It had all of the production info about the car on it.

just for future reference, there is no 442 ci engine. The 442 was a model not a motor. Your options in 77 were Buick 231V6, Olds 260 V8 and Olds 350 V8. If you had a "442" it would have a 403 ci. The last year for Olds 455 in autos was 1976 where in the 442 it was an option. After 76 the 455 was for commerical use only such as RV''s.
