1977 Dashboard lighting
Having a problem and haven't gotten a shop manual yet for my '77 Cutlass Supreme - hoping a knowledgeable "gearhead" will know...
While troubleshooting my vent blower motor, I took apart the climate control area of the dashboard to check the fan motor switch (switch is fine, motor is the problem). Anyway, since I had it apart, I disconnected and removed the radio since it wasn't working right anyway.
After I put it back together sans-radio, I found that the dashboard lighting doesn't go on anymore. Wanted to know if the plugs for the radio also are a power series for the dashboard lights in that once I removed it, I broke the circuit. I checked the fuse for the dash lights - fuse is good, but no lights. The small map light above the climate controls work, the lighter plug works and the high-beam light goes on, but no dash illumination when the headlamps are turned on. Tried rotating the light switch in case it was dimmed, but nothing (interior lights turn on with rotating the switch, but no dash lights).
Did I break the circuit for the lights removing the radio or is it just that something is not connected when I put it back together? I made sure all the plugs for everything else were tight and together before buttoning everything back up. If there is a break in the circuit through the radio connections, any way for me to make a "jumper" to complete the circuit? PLEASE HELP!
