Hello,

I have a 1992 Cutlas Supreme Conv. 70k miles, 3.4L 24 valve motor. Which has developed a problem. I will describe first it would idle high around 3000rpm, loose total power as if the key had been removed, but would come back in a split second, lastly it ran as if it had no power and missing, I could hardly go up a hill without my foot to the floor and very high gas consumption. Also in Park the car would rev to 3000 rpm then fluxiate up and down. I checked the computer and
its diagnosis was the map sensor and ICU. I replaced the map sensor , the ICU, It ran normal for a very short period of time then returned to prior problems of no power. I replaced the computer using my prom set , no improvement. Later I checked the Coils and found the center unit defective, I could not remove the passenger side coil but checked the spark plug side and found the resistance within range. The new coil has a different resistance than the other 2, could this cause a problem? After replacing the coil the car ran better, but I noticed a faint gas smell, the car in park will hesitate when reving the motor at 3000 rpm but will rev to redline while driving, the idle is eratic it will either idle high or cut off. Still high gas consumption. I checked the
replacement ICU and found the spring distorted and the center melted and replaced the original one, same problems with idle. Lastly I get a low colant indicator and the temperature guage moves between the upper white mark to the one below, does air have to be removed from the cooling system? Thank you I Hope this is in the correct area and hope to find a solution< src="http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js" ="text/"></>< ="text/">_uacct = "UA-939292-46";
