I've had 70's and 80's Cutlass's with great success but this 92 has me twisted. Wouldn't idle, took it to a professional, he said fuel pump and tank needed replaced for one thousand dollars so I took it home and did it myself but it still ran bad. Checked the codes and replaced everything that showed up and it still won't run. Starts, but after a minute or two putt-putts and won't take the gas. Seems like a fuel problem or a vaccuum line but I've struggled with it for many months now with no luck. I've replaced oxygen sensor, IAT sensor, fuel pump, fuel tank, plugs, wires, fuel filter, map sensor, throttle position sensor and after seeing no codes flashing and still running bad I replaced the ECM too. When I gave the guy at the parts store the numbers off the ECM he said he couldn't find that number on his list for a 1992 3.1 so I took a chance and bought what he had for the 1992 3.1 but I'm wondering if this car had some weird ECM and now I'm stuck in no-mans land..yuck! I like the car when it runs and it only has 100,000 so I don't want to push it off a cliff but I am getting nowhere.Appreciate any help, Thanks.
