O.K. Cranks over fine but won't fire up. I recently did a head gasket job on it, including a new fuel pump and filter. Replaced all the wires, plugs, starter solenoid, battery and cable. New crank sensor and it ran fine for two months. Tried to start it this AM and nothing but cranking over, not even a sputter. Gave power (yes, fused) to the bypass fuel pump lead and have plenty of fuel pressure at the injectors. Doesn't seem to have a spark. I replaced the Ignition control module and verified with a DVM that there is 12v @ the module. I verified that all three fuse links are good (12v both sides of the wires). The only diagnostic code I obtained was for the 02 sensor slow responce. Ideas???

 

V6 3.1 just in case you need...

 

Check for 12v at pnk wire of 2 wire ign module connector, ground on black wire, same connector. If OK, unplug 6 wire connector at ign module and see if it has spark. If yes, check wiring back to PCM for short/open. If not, check output from 7x crank sensor with DVOM in AC volts scale. One lead on purple wire and the other on yellow, at crank sensor connector. Should be .7V AC when cranking at normal speed. If not, check wiring from 7x CKP sensor to Ign Module , if OK, it's the 7x sensor. There are 2 CKP sensors on this engine, 24x on front of crank, and 7x on rear of block above the oil pan rail. Good luck.

 

Crank sensor is showing .07vac upon turning over. There is 12v @ the controller. I did also try swapping the computer and still no start and no spark. All fusable links are good. I did replace the cam sensor a while ago. The 6 wire connector? There are two 2 wire connectors (one crank sensor, 1 12v source) and a 4 wire connector on the ignition controller. Unplug and look for a spark?? Ideas?

 

Turned out to be a defective Crank Sensor after all even though there was an AC voltage showing. Apparently not enough. Fired up the first try! Thanks everyone and JRSIXX for the info. I now know way more than I wanted to abou this darn car!
