ok so i jsut got the car.. i posted somethin about this in the new
member forum.. but i thought this was a more suited thread. well i just
got the car.. yeah it has some problems.. power steering pump leak..
intake leak... psshh i know.. some major things. but the major thing to
my concern is my gas.. my gas mileage is bull honky.. i have to fill up
every other day.. and it's like almost 30 bucks to fill up. i'm 18 and
i'm tryin to get through college with a job at a car wash.. it's hard..
i definately need this car. there is a hissing sound from underneath
the car by the gas tank.. my friend says it's the fuel system.. now i'm
missing a gas cap.. could this be a problem as well?? any information
on this would be very helpful.. websites, whatever yall have. thank
yall so much.

 

I have the same problem with my '93 cutlass 3.1L . Someone told me it is a problem with a fuel line pressure or something like that. I'll find out more and try to get back to you. John

The sound you are hearing is most likely the fuel pump running, and you need a gas cap, for the evap emmission system to work properly.
