My engine mounts need replacing. How critical is this? It might have made my axles wear a bit because they started making an undulating groaning noise that got worse and then stopped. They were relatively new.Is this what happened? They wore to a point they no longer make noise? Also there was clicking and popping in my steering that has almost stopped. I could''nt really feel any of this, just hear it. These sounds gradually got worse and then pretty much stopped. It drives fine but occasionally I can feel a slight shift very briefly when I gun it. Is this the mounts? Will the mounts break if I do not replace them? 225,000 miles on the car. Does the timing gear need replacing? What would happen if it did and I didn''t replace? A mechanic told me it would break at shut off and wouldn''t crank until fixed. He said the timing gears are a plastic composite that wear faster.He also told me when I took it to him that he is honest and could fix some things but won''t. He said it''s an old car and it may run another ten years with gas and fluid changes.He said to save my money and drive it until something breaks. What do you think about all of this? Thanks.
