Red face '86 Olds Delta 88 GM Special Coverage

Looking through some paperwork of a Delta 88 I still drive. (Dad purchased new 7-22-86) Found a one page paper labeled GENERAL MOTORS SPECIAL COVERAGE PROGRAM. 1986-87 Buick, Oldsmobile, and Pontiac Front-Wheel-Drive Passenger cars with 3.0L and 3.8L Engines - Intermittent Stalling Condition. General Motors will make repairs and adjustments necessary in the 1986-87 GM 3.0L and 3.8L Stall Diagnosis Procedures Manual until December 31, 1992 or for the initial 100,000 miles of vehicle use, whichever comes first. See your dealer for details on the specific parts and/or components covered.
Wondering what this actually involved and what was going wrong at that time to warrant this special coverage. This car will occasionally stall and or set Code 42 for some unknown reason. It is obviously way way out of any warranty at 240 K but I am still curious as to what was going on then and what remedies were done to correct this stalling. Hopefully this will be back in someones memory bank and be able to push recall.
