Does any one know why my fan would cut out(turn off)when you turn the dial from high fan speed to low fan speed. Or does anyone know how to pull the controls out to check the connections. I have a feeling it is a connection problem because I can hit the dash some times and the fan will start running again.

What year?

Regardless. I'd go to an electronics store and buy a bug can of contact claner and spray the snot out of the switch. Spray it whilegoing through all positions. Let it set for 15 minutes or so and try it again.

no it does not have auto temp control, it is a 1998 oldsmobile 88. I tried getting the hvac controler out and I could not get it out. Any help would be appreciated. I believe it is the controller or the fan, I hope it is the fan because that is a cheaper fix.
