Hi everyone, I am looking at purchasing a 1942 Oldsmobile 76 series and would like to know a little more about the car and if many people restore them and turn them into "mild" hot rods. I'm good mechanically, but am new to antique cars and restoration. The car has a little body rust in a few spots but the frame is good. It has the original engine.

I would also like to consider putting a V8 in it, new transmission wider rear tires, power steering and disc brakes. Any information about those would be really helpful.
