New to this forum but will be online from time to time.

I am currently ready to buy a 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass S. She's a beauty that survived the years.

I have a question about the engine. I am wondering what the horsepower rating was stock.

IT has the original 350 rocket which originally came with the 2 barrel carb. However, the owner put an edelbrock 4 barrel, aluminum heads and intake, mild street cam, headers etc.

I am just wondering if some of you Olds enthusiasts would know the stock horsepower on that engine?

160 HP SAE Net @ 4000 and 275 ft. lbs. of torque @ 2400. 1972 was the first year for SAE net ratings.

The 1971 had the same engine and was rated at 240 @ 4200 and 350 ft. lbs @ 2400 (not SAE rated).

The two-barrel motor has a tame camshaft and low compression (8.5:1).

The factories reported to the American Automobile Manufactuters Association on an annual basis and we have the specs from 1964-1972.
