1973 Toronado
#1
Hey All!
Just bought daughter a 1973 Olds Toronado. The PO says a racing cam was put in the engine...thus no vaccum. It is not the orginal engine and Im trying to find out what size it is. I took a wonderful ride yesterday....wildly through a neighbors yard as there were no brakes! After a minute or two brakes did exist. Im wondering how there could have been vaccum for brakes if it did, indeed have a racing cam in it. Will a Vaccum Reserve help this problem? What about the Brake Booster? This car is near mint, inside and out.... I believe we 'stole' for 300 bucks! Thanks for any input...

I WOULD DEFENTLY HAVE THE BRAKE SYSTEM CHECKED CLOSELY FOR IT TO HAVE A CAM BIG ENOUGH TO CAUSE THIS KIND OF PROBLEM
THE ENGINE WOULD DEFENITELY HAVE THAT LUMPY DRAG CAR IDLE
AND UNDER LOW VACUUM SITUATIONS RESERVE CANS DO WORK BUT
DOES NOT SOUND LIEK THIS IS YOUR PROBLEM , MORE LIKE BAD MASTER OR BOOSTER
SHOULD GET IT CHECKED SOON
