3400 Engine question
#1
Alright... I just joined the forum here to ask a basic question..
I have a 2001 Olds Alero with 3.4L v6 motor. I've had a LIM leak for awhile but didn't think it was major so left it alone... well....
I went to start it on a cold winter morning and the engine ran really rough, so I stopped the motor got out, opened the hood and while opening noticed that all my oil was running out on my driveway.
I pulled the Intake Manifold off and was turning the motor by hand to check compressionand noticed antifreeze squirting out where the oil filter goes... I'm assuming that I have a crack in the block... is that true?
Any thoughts....
Thanks,

The oil could have become contaminated with antifreeze due to the LIM leak. It could have been allowing antifreeze to mix with oil while the engine was running. Drain the oil pan and see if it has a lot of antifreeze in the oil there.

Then added 5 quarts of oil into the crank, and air intake to make sure before I hand turned the motor that oil was spread out. When I hand twisted it, pure antifreeze pulsed out of the oil filter area.. About 2 glasses full over 30 min period, with no oil mix... we were trying yo check compression and see if the head gasket was shot.Edited by: bigsteveg
