I've been troubleshooting an issue with a 96 Achieva regarding the cooling fan not turning on.

To make a long story short, I know the fan and all the associated wiring is good. If I un plug the temp sensor right by the thermostat the car goes into limp mode and the fan turns on.

Does the 2.4 liter have another temp sensor that triggers the fan. I know my other GM car has 2 sensors.

If there is another one, can anyone tell me where it is off hand?

Thanks!

Sorry I did not see your post sooner. I had a similar problem with my 3.1 engine in my 95 Cutlass. It has two sensors. On in the front near the thermostat and the other in the back closest to the firewall and the back of the engine. After many problems with sensors I finally went to the dealer and bought the one for the rear of the engine called the temperature coolant sensor- retailed around $25.00. now the fan turns on without the a/c being on and the dash gauge is more accurate. I did some research at the local library where they had some technical service manuals that were very helpful. So hope this helps you out and if it does please post a reply.
