Hi guys,


Im about to start restoring my 66 Olds Toronado but since there arent many here in Oz im finding it hard to get advice, parts etc.


One issue Im having is the vacuum controlled headlights, central locking etc.


The lights only go up and down Intermittently and occasionally one light stays up and you have to give it a slight tap for it to go down.


Also when I press the central locking button inside the car all you hear is the sound of air and nothing happens.


What exactly controls all this? Is there a rebuilt kit of some sort available or an alternate way of powering things?


Any info or dvice will be greatly appreciated

hi i have the same car and have had simular problems. the headlight are operated by a vacum sylinder located in the forward corners of the engine bay,and these need some lubricant once in a while.and also check all the vacum hoses running from the sylinders and into the vacum tank in the left forward corner in the engine bay the ligts are getting vacum from the intake manifold the hose is conected behind the carburetor and it is very typical that these old hoses can crak open in the ends where they are conected.i belive this is the cause for your central locking problem to.just follow the hissing noise,and you will brobably find a lose craked vacum hose.good luck![img]smileys/smiley16.gif[/img]
