car hesitates on acceleration, and...
#1
Hi,
any clues as to what this problem could be on an 1986 Olds
Cutlass Supreme brougham v6 3.8 rear whell drive, Auto-transmisssion,
carburated
When you accelerate it hesitates, and then speeds
up, so it kinda jerks forward, makes you feel like you are driving one
of those clown cars in the circus, lol, it doesn't do it all the time though.
Also don't know if this is related, but when you first start the
car up in the morning and then put it in reverse to back out of the
garage it dies, and you have to keep starting it, you have to rev it up
to snap it out of it, and then it backs out ok, after that it's fine
all the rest of the way, only happens first thing in the morning.
Now the choke coil was replaced, and guessed at the angle to it back in
at, where when the engine is cold then the throttle plate is closed so
you can't see down into the carb.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

my car was doing the same thing as yours.you should try getting a carb kit.after i installed the carb kit in my 85 cutlass supreme the hesitatin was gone and the car gained a lot of power.as for the tranny it might be time for a rebuild.
