Default fuel pump issues

no power is getting to the pump. there is power to the reelay and the relay and fuse are both good. if i run a wire straight from the battery to the fuel pump it doesnt do the normal priming sound, more of like its locked up. any ideas on either one of these problems?

If hitting tank caused pump to start working then yes you need pump on old truck like that dropping tank and rusted lines gets expensive, besides pump you'll need fuel lines and gas tank straps, sometimes i've gotten lucky by removing bed to change pump, then you dont have to worry about tank straps but still be careful with lines.
