Hi, All.
I just picked up a 1988Olds Delta 88 w/64000 miles from my Mom. This is truely acar driven by a little old lady.
Yesterday, I drove it from Chicago to Minneapolis,
439 miles door to door. The engine sounds great, but
I was getting an occasional "SES" light during the trip.
Also, I felt a thump a couple times when the light came on.
I just pulled the codes this morning using the paper clip method. (These old cars are kinda neat).
13 Oxygen sensor Circuit
Check for a sticking or misadjusted throttle position sensor. Check the wiring and connectors from the oxygen sensor. Replace the oxygen sensor.
41 EST circuit
No distributor reference pulses to the ECM at specified engine vacuum
There was no recommended action for the code 41, not sure what to do?
Also, can anyone tell me how many O2 sensors I have? I don't own a manual. From what I found online and a not-so-sure auto clerk is I only have one. I took a look and I can see one on top, near fire wall side.
I will go ahead and replace the O2 sensor. I'm not sure where to start with the code 41? Any direction would be appreciated.
thanks much.

I would replace the Crankshaft sensor. They get weak and get erratic. Also, check out the connections to the ignition modules. Check the metal parts of the connectors. Make sure they make a good connection.

Update.
I replaced the O2 sensor and the code 13 went away, yeh!
I still have the code 41 (EST Circuit) though.Any additional help would be appreciated. I'll continue to check the wiring.
thanks,

< src="http://www.google-analytics.com/urchin.js" =text/> </>you didn't mention if it has a distributer or ckp. ckp will provide crank position for ignition, distributer will do the same thing through means of a magnetic pick-up or hall effect sensor. does the engine run?? If so does it run right, no hesitation or back fires.?? need more info. only one o2 sensor, upstream infront of converter.
