well i have a 94 cutlass supreme convertable with a 3.4. the alt gauge is showing 8-10 when i give it gas.turn on lights and ac and i gets worse.i checked the charging system with a checker and shows fine,but the gauge doesnt.i have replaced the alt 2 times this week and still the same thing.i have a new alt on there now.i checked the battery to make sure.undid the amp i have hooked up and still doesnt help.has anybody had this problem before?i am driving myself crazy with this.i dont know what else to do but to take it somewhere and have it checked but will cost me alot of money.

is the 3.4 a dohc eng.?

 

well yes it is a dohc but i have found out the problem.the battery cable going to the fuse box on left side was really loose and the starter fuseable links were fried.no i have good charging and no dropping gauge.
